About Phil Templeton

Dr. T has a passion for helping individuals and couples learn to heal the pain of relationship problems.  He and his family live in the Puget Sound area of beautiful Western Washington, where they are active in the church they attend.

Education:

  • Seminary Ph.D., Christian Counseling - "Seminary studies helped me put together my understandings of God  with my desire to help people.  It's a really good thing to know the character of God... and it's even better to really know God."

  • M.A., Marriage, Family & Child Counseling - "In grad school I learned that Relationships are essential for life.  When your life is over, all you possess is the experiences you've shared with others."

  • B.A., Journalism - "Journalism school sharpened my gift with the written word.  As a therapist and teacher, I know that words, spoken or written, can bring healing or wounding.  Lord, let my words be tools for the healing of wounded souls."

Professional Credentials and Memberships:

  • Ordained Christian Minister-- called to serve God by writing, teaching, and counseling
  • Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor (BCPCC) with the International Board of Christian Counselors

  • Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (http://www.aamft.org/)
  • Charter-Clinical Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (http://www.aacc.net/)

 Helpful Books & Resources:

Dr. T loves books!  He says, "You can tell a lot about a person by the people and books they hang out with.

"Many people I've known have benefitted from spending time with these books.  I can't recommend everything each writer or commentator says, but greatly appreciate the help they provide to people who need healing (which we all do!)."
